I’ve always been a big fan of photography, I’ve never called myself a ‘photographer’ by any means but I still like to get involved and take the best pictures I can, whether that’s simple photos from a trip out or wedding photography, I’ve always tried to be involved in the photography aspect of design.
In the last 12 months, photography has become a big part of my life, having covered a few weddings, etc I’ve found myself working on a lot of photography projects (more so than design projects to be honest) and so it was only natural that the two would come together and find a happy medium……photo manipulation.
Now, I’m not talking about anything too fancy here, I’m not removing heads and replacing them or turning people invisible (although, I have done that in past….anyway I digress) but more enhancements of the photo, making the image ‘pop out’ and bringing it to life.
Through a technique of levels, curves, knockouts, desaturation and lighting I’ve come up with a nice little way of enhancing images – so please take a look at these and let me know your thoughts
all comments are welcome!
Basically, what you’re looking at is the finished image – to begin with, the subject was stood in front of a grey screen, the lighting was flat, the colours were washed out and there was no ‘punch’ to the image – I clipped the subject from the background, added all the above (levels enhancement, etc) and then added these / him to the background of choice.
I’m happy with the finished article and would love to hear your thoughts…
